Keynote Speaker:
Cynthia Bowen, APA President

 

We welcome a very special guest as our keynote speaker, Cynthia Bowen, President of the American Planning Association. 

Cynthia Bowen is the director of planning for Rundell Ernstberger Associates (REA), a national planning, urban design, and land architect firm founded in 1979. An active APA member, Bowen has held a number of leadership positions including president of the APA Indiana Chapter and vice chair and secretary/treasurer of the Chapter Presidents Council. Bowen is a graduate of Ball State University with degrees in urban and regional planning and environmental science and design. Within her community, Bowen has served on many boards and committees. 

 

 

Awards Reception:

Cahokia Mounds

 

Don’t miss out on the Awards Reception at “America’s Oldest City,” the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, on Thursday evening, June 7th.

The St. Louis Section will present the annual award winners.  Attendees can mingle and explore the museum and interpretive center while enjoying food and drinks.

Cahokia Mounds is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the largest archaeological site in North America.  You can find more information at www.cahokiamounds.org.

Gateway Conference Center in Collinsville

 

The program will include sessions all day Thursday, June 7th at the Gateway Conference Center in Collinsville, IL.  The theme of this year’s event is “Innovations in Housing and Residential Growth.”  Speakers will cover several housing topics include affordability and the outlook for residential growth in addition to other planning topics.

Friday, June 8th will be dedicated to Mobile Workshops.  We will be running tours of Madison County and St. Clair County in the morning and afternoon.  The mobile workshops will provide highlights of each county with a focus on the housing and residential growth themes of the overall program. 

The tours are expected to run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the morning and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon.  You can choose the Madison County tour in the morning and the St. Clair County tour in the afternoon or vice versa.


 

Registration

For APA member, early bird registration is $75.  Registration after May 15 is $90.

Non-APA members are $90.  Student registration is FREE.

The Gateway Conference Center in Collinsville, IL is located on IL Rte. 157 near the I-55/I-70 and I-255 interchange. 

Collinsville is a 2 ½ hour drive from Champaign, Peoria, and Bloomington and around 4 ½ hours form Chicago.

The nearest Amtrak station is in Alton, IL which is a ½ hour Uber trip to Collinsville.
