Planning and Zoning Director

Purpose of Position The purpose of the Planning & Zoning Director's position is to direct, supervise, and monitor planning and zoning activities and personnel for Greene County, under the direction of the Resource Management Administrator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Interprets and enforces zoning and subdivision regulations.
Determines prosecution of zoning violations.
Enforces flood plain ordinance.
Acts as Executive Secretary for the Planning and Zoning Board.
Prepares and provides information and special reports on planning and zoning matters to Planning and Zoning Board.
Acts as Executive Secretary for the Board of Zoning Adjustment.
Prepares and provides information and special reports on planning and zoning matters to Board of Zoning Adjustment.
Reviews and approves subdivision plats.
Conducts public meetings and hearings regarding zoning and planning matters.
Prepares, recommends, and monitors departmental budget.
Reviews expenses and revenues throughout the fiscal year and develops annual budget.
Authorizes purchases and travel expenses for department.
Directs department activities.
Sets work guidelines. Assigns work, projects, reviews completed work, and maintains current zoning maps.
Writes Commission orders and legal ads regarding zoning matters.
Coordinates rural addressing for E-911; county Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping and information gathering efforts, serves on GIS Steering Committee.
Coordinates County planning and zoning functions with utility companies, state, and local agencies.
Ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines and mandates.
