The City of Burlington is accepting online applications and resumes for the position of City Planner I to coordinate, administer, oversee, and participate in projects and activities of the Community Development Department.

The City Planner performs a variety of complex and technical duties in the design, development and administration of individual projects, including zoning code enforcement, subdivisions, rezoning, variances, special use applications, development review; draft ordinance revisions as requested. Investigate, apply for, and administer grants related to community development, parks & recreation, and other related city functions. Answer questions and provide information to citizens and the general public; respond to and resolve routine inquiries, complaints and Code violations; provide advice for zoning, land use planning, flood plain management, site planning, subdividing and historic preservation.

Seeking entry to mid-level applicants for this position.  One year of increasingly responsible experience in city and regional planning, public administration and/or closely related field preferred.  Bachelor’s degree in City / Regional Planning or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required, Master’s degree preferred.
