Overview

Our one-day Workshops on small scale real estate development are all about project formation. We take a big picture view of neighborhood-based development to help attendees analyze what makes a good project, how a building makes money, and how small developers interact with the broader ecosystem of professionals in the built environment. By the end of the Workshop, aspiring developers will feel more prepared to take the first steps on their own project.

Today, city building is dominated by large developers with institutional investors who build in big, expensive chunks like subdivisions and shopping centers; however, the neighborhoods we love most tend to be ones that were built gradually over generations. This one-day workshop on small scale real estate development is all about the project formation. Participants will look at a big picture view of neighborhood-based development and understand:

·         How to analyze what makes a good project,

·         How a building makes money, and

·         How small developers interact with the broader ecosystem of professionals in the built environment.

Additionally, participants will feel more prepared to take the first steps related to urban and rural development within their own cities and how to champion real estate transactions.

 Furthermore, the participants will understand:

·         Business Models and Skill Sets

·         Right-Sizing a Project

·         Market Research and Site Selection

·         Zoning

·         Project Pro Formas

·         Hands-on Application of Site Planning and Pro Formas

          Financing a Project
